PITTSBURGH-- The Pitt women's soccer team has garnered a 4-0-1 record in its spring season, the best record since head coach Sue-Moy Chin's arrival in 2003. The Panthers competed against Akron, St. Francis (Pa.), Duquesne, Slippery Rock and Robert Morris and totaled 10 goals.
In a 3-1 win over Akron, Ashley Habbel, Jennifer Kritch and Dee Abasute all tallied goals. Habbel (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and Kritch (Northville, Mich./Northville) both registered five goals in the 2007 season, a team high. Abasute (Atlanta, Ga./Austell) walked-on last season for the Panthers, but has proven to be a key competitor for the upcoming season.
The Panthers lone tie of the spring season came from a 0-0 standoff against St. Francis.
Against Duquesne, Habbel scored the Panthers only goal in a 1-0 win.
Kritch and Abasute both registered goals for Pitt against Slippery Rock. The Panthers defeated Rock 2-1.
In a 4-0 shutout against Robert Morris, Habbel scored two goals and Abasute garnered another goal. Iris Boivin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) registered the fourth goal for the Panthers.
